Visual C++ Installation Guide

If you’re experiencing issues upgrading to the latest version of Elevate POS, it may be due to a missing or outdated Windows component: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. This is not part of our POS software, but it’s a necessary Windows system component that enables Elevate POS to function properly.

⚠️ Important: You must have admin rights on your PC to install or update this component.

 

How to Check if It’s Already Installed:

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features

  2. Look for an entry called Microsoft Visual C++

  3. If it’s listed and up to date, no further action is needed.






Installation Instructions

Install the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable before launching or upgrading the POS following the next steps.

  1. Download the correct version from Microsoft: Download Visual C++

  2. Install the downloaded file

    • Open it, accept the license terms, and click Install

    • Approve any prompts asking for admin access

  3. Restart your PC again

  4. Launch Elevate POS

 

Fix Instructions

  1. Uninstall existing Visual C++ Redistributables

  • Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features 



  • Uninstall all items named Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

  1. Restart your computer

  2. Download the correct version of Visual C++ by using this link: http://aka.ms/vs/16/release/VC_redist.x86.exe

  3. Install the downloaded file

    • Open it, accept the license terms, and click Install

    • Approve any prompts asking for admin access

  4. Restart your PC again

  5. Launch Elevate POS

    • The upgrade should now complete successfully
